RAOUL’s Tara Blouse and Full Pleat Skirt: The Kate Middleton Effect Strikes Again

Kate Middleton has already boosted sales at Reiss and Burberry, and now she’s lending a well-manicured hand to RAOUL.

Last Wednesday—the second day of her tour of Southeast Asia—the Duchess wore RAOUL’s Tara Blouse and Full Pleat Skirt through the streets of Singapore. The choice didn’t just pay tribute to RAOUL. It also nodded to Singapore, where the international fashion chain is based.

RAOUL sold out of the skirt 24 hours after images of Kate in the outfit began surfacing on the Internet. ”We’ve seen an incredible increase in traffic to our website since The Duchess of Cambridge wore our clothes,” Douglas and Odile Benjamin, co-creative directors and chief executive officers of RAOUL, said in a statement. “She is an international style icon, and it is a great honor for us to be recognised by her.”

The Kate Effect struck in three key ways.
  • RAOUL’s Full Pleat Skirt retails for $305, but sold for $1,000 in one eBay auction the day after Kate wore RAOUL
  • RAOUL’s Tara Blouse retails for $225, but sold out on www.raoul.com
  • RAOUL’s website traffic increased from 355 views to 2,596 views within a 24-hour period
Most celebrities depend on stylists to bring them their clothes. But Kate actually purchased her outfit from London’s Matches boutique.

RAOUL is currently replenishing its stock of the Tara Blouse and Full Pleat skirt, which will be available exclusively on www.raoul.com.
